Can a port get close to energy self-sufficiency? At Marina Palamós, we’re proving it’s possible. In May, we reached 94% energy self-consumption, marking a significant step toward a more sustainable and efficient port model.
This milestone is the result of our strong commitment to renewable energy and the integration of advanced power generation and storage technologies. Our photovoltaic solar installation, combined with a lithium-ion battery system, allows us to cover nearly all of our daily energy needs.
Last week, we welcomed the technical teams from Ampere Energy and Green Electric Energies Renovables, who collaborated on the system’s design and implementation. Together, we reviewed the system’s performance and confirmed the excellent results achieved.
Key figures of the system:
-
☀️ Photovoltaic solar generation capacity: 300 kW
-
🔋 Storage technology: Lithium-ion
-
🔋 Storage capacity: 480 kWh
-
⚡ Nominal power of the storage system: 100 kW
Our commitment to the future
At Marina Palamós, we continue to work toward reducing our environmental footprint and becoming a benchmark in sustainable innovation in the port sector. This achievement is not the final goal, but another step in our ongoing strategy for environmental improvement and energy efficiency.
We will keep promoting initiatives that move us closer to a cleaner, self-sufficient, and environmentally responsible port.
