Last April 11, we had the pleasure of receiving an extraordinary visitor in our port: the brigantine sailing ship “La Grace”  flying the Czechoslovakian flag.

With an overall length of 23 meters and a beam of 6 meters, this beautiful vessel is a faithful replica of an 18th century Dutch privateer ship, originally built by the Swedish naval engineer Chapman and captained by the intrepid Czech pirate Augustin Herman. He was famous for his raids robbing Spanish merchant ships on the coasts of colonial America, especially on the coasts of Guatemala, where he stole sugar, wine and tobacco to sell them later in Holland as corsair booty.

The highlight of his visit lies in his revival after being considered unserviceable after running aground in Marbella due to a strong storm two years ago. Seeing her once again plying the seas has been a rewarding experience and has generated quite a buzz on social media, capturing the attention of numerous admirers.

We are honored to have received the visit of “La Grace” and look forward to the opportunity to see her again soon in our port.
